Not all short story collections need to be gloomy, stuffy required reading. Some can be funny, irreverent and memorable, with a few serious ditties thrown in so as not to appear rakish or shallow. Pacifist Chicken is one of the latter collections. These stories do not try to make you think; they ask politely. Stories that you can relate to but still surprise and intrigue. Stories you can read before falling asleep that are unlikely to give you nightmares (Disclaimer: there are no guarantees as a few are somewhat ... unsettling).
