One of the many tragedies of Katrina was that there was no room in rescue boats or shelters for pets. Residents were forced to leave their furred & feathered family members behind, to be rescued later--if they survived. Many homes bore signs alerting animal rescue teams to pets awaiting help.
That was the fate of Bruno, the big Newfoundland; Fawn, the Chihuahua; Will, the tabby cat; and Jasmine, the Siamese. The four friends are soon joined by Ivory, a very pregnant cat, Toby, a tough dachshund mix, and Angus, a crafty Macaw parrot.
This resourceful group struggles to survive the growing threat posed by a pair of looters.
